Sports Premium Funding

This is the action plan for spending sports funding allocated by the government as post Olympic legacy funds. The vision behind Highfield’s use of the money is to sow the seeds for future Olympians. In recent years the school is aware of children who have , as a result of being introduced to a minority sport at this school , joined golf clubs, fencing clubs and sailing clubs. We have invested in horse-riding opportunities for all year 2 children and sailing for all year 5 children.

In the past years (pre-covid), we continued to provide valuable experiences of horse riding for infant pupils as well as sailing for Upper Junior pupils – both of which were received extremely positively by parents and children.  The funding provided additional specialist coaching for our school football club which increased their confidence when participating in inter-school competition. We have yet to reach Wembley, but that continues to be part of our aspiration!

During COVID, we maintained access to extra-curricular sports clubs, increased the participation of pupil premium children and also extended the range for pupils to access. We have created a junior outdoor gym, created active outdoor play frames, set up boxing club, gymnastics club, dance club, football clubs, tennis clubs and even have a ping pong table in our junior department!

This document below gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
