Music at Highfield

At Highfield, our music curriculum aims to cultivate a passion for music and foster musical skills in children. In Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), students explore basic music concepts through singing, playing instruments, and discovering various musical genres. Moving to Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), they develop skills in singing harmony, playing tuned instruments, and composing music, while also exploring music from different cultures and historical periods. The curriculum emphasises musical proficiency, listening, creativity, and collaboration. Ongoing assessment ensures students progress in their musical abilities and deepen their appreciation for music's cultural richness and expressive potential.
