Design & Technology at Highfield

At Highfield, our Design and Technology (DT) curriculum aims to inspire creativity and practical skills in children. In Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), children are introduced to basic design and making skills using a variety of materials through simple projects. In Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), they advance to more complex techniques and tools, focusing on innovation and problem-solving. The curriculum covers designing, making, and evaluating products, alongside understanding and applying principles of nutrition and cooking. With an emphasis on creativity, technical skills, and healthy living, our ongoing formative assessment ensures individual progress. DT education at Highfield prepares children to be innovative and capable individuals.
