Our Ethos
The Vision of our school
Through our core Christian values of peace, courage and respect, we aim to create an environment where every child is nurtured, respected and empowered to make a positive difference to themselves and others.
Children at Highfield feel inspired, supported and celebrated. We aim to build individuals who will thrive and flourish and recognise the relevance of our school core values in their everyday lives.
Our vision is to create a school where everyone appreciates the beauty of a life lived in Christian values, and where staff, children and parents work together to reflect the life of Jesus in our community.
We pray that our children will live and learn with the courage to always do what is right. They will seek to bring peace to every situation and respect and value others and celebrate the rich diversity in our community.
We believe our values will enable children to spread their wings and bring the transforming power of Christian values to the world around them, in their own unique way.
“Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13 v 11 (New Living Translation)
Our core Christian values are PEACE, RESPECT AND COURAGE.
Peace
At Highfield, we seek to be people who bring peace into every situation.
We wish to be at peace with ourselves, and with who God has created us to be.
We seek to resolve our differences peacefully, and to be people who choose forgiveness and grace.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God. Matthew 5 v 9
Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. James 3 v 18
Live in peace with one another. 1 Thessalonians 5 v 13
Courage
We aspire to have the courage to be ourselves, and to be true to our values and identity.
We aim to have the courage to always do what is right and to stand up for justice.
We encourage ourselves and each other to be courageous learners who will take risks and embrace challenge.
Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God is with you. Joshua 1 v 9
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Ephesians 6 v 10
Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God. 2 Samuel 10 v 12
Respect
We wish to see others as God sees them – as His precious children, and to value them as God does.
We celebrate the differences and diversity that we are blessed with in our community.
So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them. Matthew 7 v 12
We treat others as we would wish to be treated.
Highfield CE Primary school is a happy school rooted firmly in Christian principles with a family feel based on excellent interpersonal relationships. A school where the core values of Peace, Respect and Courage are interwoven into it’s daily life. These are reflected in our school prayer:
In darkness and in light
In trouble and in Joy
Help us Heavenly father
To serve your purpose, trust your love and praise your name
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
AMEN
We use a butterfly image to represent how our children spread their wings and bring the transforming power of Christian values to the world around them, in their own unique way.
