Geography at Highfield
At Highfield, our geography curriculum aims to foster a deep understanding of the world's diverse environments in children. In Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), students learn basic geographical skills and explore local and wider environments, focusing on physical and human features. In Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), they delve into continents, countries, and geographical processes like weather and ecosystems, alongside human geography such as settlements and economic activities. The curriculum emphasises environmental awareness and sustainable development, nurturing curiosity and global citizenship. Ongoing assessment ensures students grasp geographical concepts and develop essential skills for understanding and interacting with their surroundings effectively.
