Computing at Highfield

At Highfield, we aim to equip children with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a digital world. Our computing curriculum focusses on digital literacy, computer science, and information technology. In Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), children are introduced to basic programming, algorithms, and the use of simple software and digital devices, learning how technology is used in everyday life. In Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), they advance to more complex programming concepts, explore computer networks including the internet, and understand digital safety and online responsibility. The curriculum emphasises practical application and responsible use of technology, with ongoing formative assessment focusing on individual progress. Computing education at Highfield enhances problem-solving skills and digital literacy, preparing children for a technology-driven future.
