Art at Highfield

At Highfield, we aim to inspire creativity and appreciation for art in children. Our curriculum focusses on developing artistic skills, critical thinking, and cultural understanding.  In Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), children are introduced to basic drawing, painting, and sculpture while exploring the works of various artists.  In Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), they advance to more complex techniques and study significant artists, developing their own style.  The curriculum emphasises experimentation with various materials and digital media, encouraging children to analyse and appreciate their work and that of others. Assessment is ongoing and formative, focusing on individual progress. Art education fosters creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness, enriching your child's overall development.
