Science at Highfield
At Highfield, our science curriculum aims to ignite curiosity and develop scientific skills in children. In Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7), students explore basic scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, focusing on plants, animals, materials, and everyday phenomena. Progressing to Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), they delve deeper into scientific ideas such as forces, electricity, evolution, and Earth sciences, conducting investigations and applying critical thinking to analyse evidence. The curriculum emphasises scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, and problem-solving abilities, with ongoing assessment ensuring students develop a solid foundation in science and are prepared to engage with scientific challenges in the future.
