How many chickens can we keep in our garden?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In maths this week, the year 6 children have been exploring area and perimeter. They spent their Friday lesson exploring how many chickens that they could keep if they had a 60m perimeter. They had to investigate how changing the shape of the four sided shape would impact the area, so noticing was definitely an important skill for our learning! Some children even decided to challenge themselves by altering the shape of the chicken enclosure and decided to try to see if they could find the area of other shapes. It was brilliant to see the links that the children were making, and they were all able to showcase their systematic approach to solving the problem. Well done everyone! I think Mr Lewis now needs to brush up on his year 8 maths learning of Pythagoras theorem !
