In art this half term, the year 5/6 children have been looking at printing. In their second lesson, they had a try at relief printing themselves by creating their own print based upon the relief printing style of Hokusai (a famous Japanese artist, who used this style for his art work). The children were really resilient in designing their print on styrofoam and then evenly painting their final design ready to print! Once they were finished, the children had time to reflect and amend their print and evaluate their final piece of art work. Later on this half term, the children will have a chance to create a final printing design and after the success of the lesson, some children may choosing a Hokusai inspired piece of work!
