In dance this term, the children have been looking at warrior dances. To fit in with our Greek topic, we have been finding out more about the famous Greek Pyrrhic dance! We have explored why the dance was important to Spartan warriors and began thinking about what body movements (one of our core components) would have been essential for the dance. The children then had time in small groups to create their own training game for Spartan warriors that could have been used to train the next Greek warriors! They focused on the body movements of being on their toes and bold movements. Next week, the children will be putting these new skills to the test as they begin to create their own Pyrrhic dances!
