In maths this term, the year 6s have been applying their understanding of area and perimeter to a range of problems. We explored when area and perimeter are used in everyday life, and then the children were given the task of designing a floor plan…for a mini beast! This fit really well with our current literacy writing about bug hotels! In pairs, the children drew a range of squares and rectangles where they then found the perimeter and area using the formulas that we had been working on in class. The children were incredibly reciprocal, creative and resilient with their workings and showed an excellent understanding of applying their maths skills!
