This year for World Book Day in 5/6 we have been getting our creative brains fired up! Although a slightly different experience given the lockdown, children still made the effort to dress up as their favourite characters and share their brilliant outfits over the internet or in keyworker school.
In the morning, we had a range of exciting Literacy activities to choose from, including writing book reviews on our favourite stories, writing letters to our favourite authors, creating new characters to appear in existing stories and rewrite endings to our favourite texts.
At midday, children met up over Google Meet to share stories and outfits together and recommend books to each other. In keyworker school, children enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate whilst enjoying books!
In the afternoon, children got really creative, being able to choose from a wide range of activities. Some decided to get in the kitchen to bake or cook book-related food, including a delicious looking Matilda chocolate cake! Other children chose to create their very own reading dens using household objects to produce a comfy space to enjoy their favourite books!
A huge well done to all those who took part in the activities during the day and for sharing their love of reading!
