Remembrance Day

Our Remembrance Day service was a wonderful service to remember those who served our country during previous wars. Both upper school and lower school bubbles safely came together to show their respects. Three Year 5/6 pupils read out ‘In Flanders Field’ by John McCrae beautifully to the whole school with excellent expression and tone before Lydia finished the service by playing ‘The Last Post’. It took a lot of practice, hard work and resilience to perform in front of the whole school, and the teachers and children all celebrated her wonderful and moving performance.

Year 5/6 are continuing their literacy linked to poetry from the World Wars next week. We have been analysing poetic features looking at figurative language to paint a picture. Towards the end of next week, we will be looking to create our own poems. These will be linked to ideas and interpretations of a short animation film of a soldier and the letters he may have written describing his experiences.
