To say well done for each class collecting 180 points with their reading points, the year 5/6 classes have been outside creating fires and making smores! The children all had a go at using a fire starter to create a spark and then built a fire using cotton wool, newspaper and sticks. The children showed a fantastic understanding of what a fire needs to start and made great links to their own experiences of fire making. It was wonderful to see all the children engaged and enthusiastic, even if they had never created a fire before! Next, the classes roasted some marshmallows, ate some smores and had some time as a class to chat, chill and sing Christmas songs.
It was a lovely reading treat shared by all and definitely one we will repeat again! Well done to everyone for continuing to read at home and thank you parents for your support as well!
