Spectacular Spectrum

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In Asia class, our Science topic this half term has been Light. We have been learning about how light comes from a source, travelling in straight lines, reflects off objects then travels into our eyes, which is how we see things.  We have also had a visit from Professor Lotery from the university, who taught us all about the human eye.

This week, we were investigating the light spectrum using prisms. We shone torches through them to try and create rainbows on the floor and held them up to our eyes to see some spectacular effects!  We also created spinners that we decorated with the colours of the rainbow. When we spun them fast enough, they appeared to turn white, as white light is a mixture of all the colours of the spectrum.
