During this term, we have been learning all about newspaper reports. We have focused our writing on quotes and reported/direct speech. Using all these skills, we have made our own newspaper articles based on a fake robbery. After we finished our reports, our class was given feedback on the piece of writing that we produced. Soon after, Mr Clarke gave us a lesson on past perfect tense, simple past tense, present perfect tense and past progressive tense.

In art, Year 5/6 have been studying the artist Hokusai’s wave print. He made his artwork by carving a picture on a piece of wood. After that he painted the wood and printed it on a sheet of paper. We have tried to recreate this great tsunami in our own style using a pencil and some water paints. In the next lesson, we started to plan our actual drawing still using Hokusai’s method of printing.
