Christmas Music

The musicians in both the infants and the juniors were very busy in the lead up to Christmas. Firstly, the children in Mrs White’s and Mrs Hickox’s choir performed brilliantly in A Concert of Christmas Music organised by the Southampton Schools Music Association, and performed at the O2 Guildhall.
Both departments then treated their audiences to enthralling Christmas Plays. Special credit must be given to those children who bravely and beautifully sang solos.
In the final week of term, the children rose above their tiredness to provide a plethora of Christmas music.
On Monday, Mrs Hastings took her singing group to a local care home to entertain the old folk there. This was much appreciated by all, particularly for a German resident who was visibly moved when the children sang Silent Night in her native language. The next day, Radio Solent came in to record the children singing 3 carols. These were played on the radio across the Christmas period!
On Wednesday, the orchestra entertained parents and pupils with a polished performance of a variety of tunes, including one festive one!
Finally, in the last school service of the term, the school band accompanied Mrs Hastings’ singing group in some carols.
There are many more exciting events planned for the spring term, so hopefully all children had a well-deserved rest over the holidays!
