This term our topic is on Ancient Greece and recently, Year 5 and 6 have been making Greek pottery. In the Ancient Greek times, when people made pottery, the base colour would be orange and the patterns would be black. Later on, they would have the colours the other way round. Sometimes people painted pictures that were related to the Greek myths, such as Theseus and the Minotaur .
In the beginning, we watched a video on how to create the Greek pots and then we made them with clay. Today we have painted the base colour of our pots and practiced painting some Greek patterns some pieces of paper. In a few weeks’ time we will be painting geometric patterns on the pots themselves.
It has been very fun to make the pots!
