Today Year 5 walked across the common to King Edward VI School for an afternoon of fun and learning at their Arts Festival. After arriving at around half twelve, we enjoyed lunch on the playing field, before heading off to the various stalls and activities they had on offer. This included looking at their artwork, trying out circus skills, listening to music, and even watching – and joining in with! – Morris dancing!
Later on in the afternoon we split into two groups for activities led by grown ups. One group enjoyed learning about and playing the Dohl drums, whilst the other went into a classroom to find out about the Science behind some of the tricks we see at the circus. We used laser beams to see how curved mirrors affects light, span plates on sticks, and learned about what makes bubbles certain colours. From the picture, you can see that one of us even got to stand inside a bubble!
All in all, it was a great afternoon and we had a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone at KES who helped to organise it!
