Just before Christmas, Sainsburys in Portswood sponsored a competition for the children in Year 5 and 6. The stimulus was the very evocative advertisement which centred on the World War 1 story of a football match between German and English soldiers. The profits from the commemorative chocolate bar that featured in the advert were given to the British Legion.
We submitted a shortlisted selection of stories and then staff at Sainsbury’s had to judge which story they had enjoyed the most. The winners were then announced by Sainsburys staff.
First place was Matilda in Year 6, Second place was Eve in Year 6 and third place was Barnaby in Year 5. They all received a special prize and the runners up did too! Well done to the winners and thank you to our local Sainsbury’s store for sponsoring the competition!
