…is a human face. Well, Year 3/4 have been learning just that! We started by learning the basics of proportion and outline, and have created self-portraits of ourselves using a variety of tonal pencils. As we followed the children’s ideas and interest to learn about Southampton’s mayor – in relation to our Southampton learning for Geography/History this term, we applied our skills to a new level of art!
We increased our size and applied all of our learning about tone and media to draw the Mayor Sue Blatchford. We have invited the Mayor, herself, to view our portraits of her, that we created using the media of chalk pastels. It was a pleasure to watch the children applying all of the skills that they have learnt independently and enthusiastically.
