Sports Premium Funding 2017 18 Review
Since the initial provision of Olympics Legacy governors have maintained the view that the funding should be a legacy from the London Olympics which will bear fruit in the Olympics of the future. To this end, the funding stream has been invested in minority sports which could be the success story of the future. The logic of this approach is supported by the rise of cycling from a little known pass time to world dominance in 10 years. Where possible the provision has sign posted external providers where children can continue to grow their skill; as a result children have joined sailing, golf and hockey groups beyond Highfield.
|2017 18 funding allocation £18,000
The Olympic legacy approach has been maintained last year.
The Year 2 children have been horse riding. The year 3 / 4 children have had a course in boxing. The Upper Juniors have had an opportunity to go sailing.
In addition the funding has been used to support Rock challenge (which is a national dance completion). The team reached the regional final after coming first in their heat and were 3rd place in the final competition.
The governors also put aside funds for the purchase of play ground equipment in the following year. The funding was further supported by the parent teacher association

The action plan for the use of the equipment is attached; however, the key success already is the play ground activity equipment. It is excellent!
